Mise en Scene - Stranger Things Analysis

  1) Write about the use of   COSTUME  in this opening scene. What costume can you see the characters wearing and what does this tell the audience?  The kids in the scene were wearing casual everyday clothes such as , t- shirts, jeans and trainers. The boss was wearing a black suit and the other men were in uniforms.  This shows the audience that the men were powerful  2)  Write about the use of LIGHTING in this opening scene. What is the lighting like and what effect does it have on the audience? The use of daylight as lighting reflects the how unusual the incident is as everyone can witness it.   3) Write about the use of SETTING in this opening scene. What different settings are in this opening 8 minutes and what might these settings suggest to the audience about the show?     The scene is set in the suburbs which highlights how normal kids have these extraordinary powers.

I want to learn how to speak to people  3) What grade are you realistically  hoping to achieve in Media? I want a grade 9. 4) What was the last TV programme or film you watched? Mr Bean 5) What technology have you used to access the media in the last 24 hours? (Radio, TV, phone etc.) My phone.

Camerawork - Doctor Who

  1) Camera shots Pick  three  camera  shots  from the scene and explain what type of shot it is and what meanings or effect they have on the audience. Medium close up- The audience can see the actor's emotions and facial expressions Close up - It conveys an emotional moment and shows the audience the importance of a character/object Establishing Shot - It shows the audience where the action is happening (setting) 2) Camera angle Pick  one  camera  angle  that is used in the scene and explain the effect it has on the audience.  High Angle - It makes the character appear small and weak. 3) Camera movement Pick  one  aspect of  camera movement  in the clip. Identify the type of camera movement and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement in the scene and what effect it has on the audience. Pan - Used to follow the action and reveal new information to the audie nce e.g character or location.

  Denotations: 1. Men  2 . Blood 3. Girl 4. Doll 5. Guard 7. Tress 8. House 9. Uniform 10. Logo 11. Text Connotations: The numbers on the uniform has connotations of prison/entrapment. The blood on the floor represents violence and conflict.

  Denotation: There is a young boy in what appears to be a village looking at the camera. There is some white text and a water aid logo on the top left hand corner. Connotation:  The boy in the advert looks poor and dirty. He drinks dirty water.
